sir,
718
With reference to my confidential despatch
of the 19th September, 1925, I have the honour to report the further course of events in connection with the local situation.
2.The strikers' pickets on the frontier in the neighbourhood of Shataukok continue to cause annoyance. I attach copies of police reports regarding the raiding of a shop in British Territory, and also a translation of a report prepared for his superior officer by the man in charge of the strikers. This man turned out to be an adherent of General Leung, referred to in paragraph 3 of my confidential despatch of the 24th July, 1925, with whom he had
been in constant touch for the purpose of keeping the pickets in order. I may mention that General
Leung continues to do excellent work in conjunction
with the police, but the number of men whom he is
allowed to employ is being gradually curtailed, as the need for their services grows less.
3. On the 26th September, 1925, a revenue
launch patrolling in British waters came across a
small steamer which had been seized by the strikers RIGHT HONOURABLE
LIETTENANT COLONEL L.C.M.S.AMERY,M.P.,
